I told these nieces of mine they could not open birthday presents until they let me take pictures of them:) they were not too happy about that, but quickly realized I was not kidding:)! they are so cute* I can't believe they are already seven.

It's a pretty busy time right now, and I can barely think about using my camera, post here, or even visit you .... I'll be back soon on a more regular basis. & we'll continue the stroll down my street* Have a great week!

Strolling right along on this little tour down my street, we're heading south (going north would take us downtown).

I was born and raised here & this house has always been a very favorite of mine* It reminds me of a life sized dollhouse. I spot a builders permit in the window so it appears this house will get a bit of work soon. I searched high and low for the little book I have about the history of these old houses, I would have liked to have shared some info on it, I'll keep looking for that book. The name of my city is the French word for 'root' it was also known & sometimes still is known as The Belle City. & YES those Belles (girls softball team) were from here, did you see the movie A League of Their Own?

OK ok! I'll stop the history lesson for now....
Oh, & you can see a few more photos of this house HERE

I'll be taking you on a stroll down my street in the coming days, so that you can see what I see.

With the exception of the structure that I live in which is a mid century apartment, the homes on my street were built in the 18-1900's. Most all of them have kept their structural integrity (thank goodness). These carriage doors always catch my eye when I'm walking...maybe it's those old lace curtains in the windows?

Some days ya just get lucky, I would not normally even show this sort of thing or post twice in one day* but...You know I buy and sell old stuff* have been doing this for many years & today Just 3 houses down a SALE! You would not believe what I paid for these 3 Victorian items... less than a song really! The two Victorian florists/funeral wicker basket stands I believe I'll be selling, the table is mine:) Also made it down to the beach...& an oh wow sandcastle competition down there today, so I have a few shots of that to share soon. Have a great week*

The trees between my neighbor & I are changing again, gone are the white blossoms of spring replaced by red crabby messy' fruit. (I can hear the bees now & oh the flys:( remember Mom???

The Henry C. Miller house next door was built in 1898 by architects: Crane & Barkhausen & is one of the finest examples of the Classic Revival Style, here in my city. This grand old house is on the historic register* & sadly it is in much need of repair. I hate to see such a grand old home crummble to the ground, & hopefully soon, the owners will do something with it. It makes a great photo backdrop though*

I think in the coming weeks I'll take you on a walking tour of architecture around me. I am lucky to live around so many great old styles, & am always completely fascinated by this sort of stuff.

In mom's garden. One of my all time favorite flowers of summer. I'm sorry to have missed SKY WATCH Friday this week. I'm just now getting the laptop back and & with house guests I have not had much time to tinker with putting programs back on it. Hopefully I'll be back at SWF next week, and be by to visit you soon too!

Thank you sweet SWEET NEL for the very kind award. If you have not met this girl yet make your way over to her place and say hello:)

So, since losing the laptop, (still no sign of it) I've been slightly consumed with printing off as many of my photos as I can...it has been quite a deal & many late nights with the printer...I admit to being one of the laziest persons re: digital photos and actually putting them on paper..something I vow to be better at in the future. I'm even going a step further and picking select groups of family shots for framing on this wall, and I'll do another wall with another grouping of scenery and florals that I have taken over the years. Photos I know I will not tire of looking at for a long long time....I don't think I'll ever stop with this printing, It is actually really fun to finally see them all in print and in frames (the others are finally going to make it into albums.

I also need to get a handle on the box of loose photos that I still have not put in albums...but that huge job will have to wait for another time!

So how bout you? Do you actually print off most or all of your photos?

I will be buying an external hard drive..so never never again will I lose another photo!

I have Company coming in again tonight, so I'll be off for a little while. I do hope to add something for SKY WATCH FRIDAY though, so see ya then!

Madeline & Kid. His real name is Rusty, but Madeline just calls him Kid...Rus has been with my mom for many years. A stray cat who has a real home..he's got the best of both worlds, two leggeds to take care of him and make sure he's well, and a little door on the front porch still gives him his freedom...he comes and goes as he pleases...

So, Madeline is 'hooked' on these books Warriors this summer, & is already on book 5 of the series with number 6 waiting on her nightstand. The main cat in the series is a big orange guy who just so happens to also be named Rusty, that is until he leaves his two leggeds and joins a clan of stray cats behind the fence, from then on he is known as Firestar. Mad now wonders what her Kid Rusty does behind the fence, when he wanders off from mom's house...If you have an 11 year old and they like to read, Madeline recommends these books*

Have a great week all, and thanks for your concern, as I have said I'm ok:)
